Foundation of Entrepreneurship Lesson Ten:Lean Entrepreneurship

Most new ventures fail. Most new products are unsuccessful. And most new companies don’t grow fast enough to retain their most talented employees. These facts exist because starting a new business is undertaken within conditions of uncertainty. In today’s context, the main problem that entrepreneurs face is not that they can’t provide new products to the market, but that they can’t find an effective business model, one that allows them to filter out what consumers do and don’t demand, and to efficiently focus time and energy on the most important issues.

Lean entrepreneurship, which originated from the concept of "lean manufacturing," represents an entrepreneurial method that generates constant successful innovation. The method advocates enterprise confirmatory studies: First, introduce a minimalist prototype to the market; then modify and adapt the product based on market feedback; finally, adjust business and marketing strategy accordingly. This iterative process is not only necessary to accurately position the product within the needs of the market, but is also the fastest and most cost efficient means to realize profitable innovation.

In the next lecture, we will invite Dr. Weixin Lao to present on Lean Entrepreneurship. By sharing his experiences in early stage investment and the training of young entrepreneurs, he will educate the entrepreneurs on how to quickly make adjustments via constant product testing and consumer feedback. Entrepreneurs can use “Lean Entrepreneurship” thinking to grasp user needs and to find the best market strategy in the shortest time at the lowest cost.
